Hmm, just realized you cannot really tell what is on the letters. They are flowers! I think you can see a close up if you click on it. Oh well.

So I'm started to get REALLY stressed about money. It's probably good that I am stressed, I mean, it's better than not being concerned at all. But I just wish I didn't have to worry so much about it! What is worrying me most is day care. It is SO expensive! And get this, it will be cheaper for us to get a nanny than to send the babies to day care!!! I guess because for infant care there are restrictions and everything, but it is crazy! Most of the centers I've looked at would be $2400 and up per MONTH for both! No way we can pay that plus our mortgage. So I will be looking into a nanny. And hopefully we will be able to do that part time. I really wish I could just stay home, but there is no way we could do that. Unfortunately.

Sometimes I wish we lived in a more affordable state. We are wanting to move, but I don't think we will be able to right now because of the housing market. But it would be nice. Cost of living is outrageous here in San Diego. If we made the salary we make here, but lived in the midwest, we could have a huge house with a huge yard. But we are here and have a tiny 2 bedroom CONDO that was built in 1970. No yard. It's just craziness.

I know everything will work out, but it is stressful. Not to mention who knows how our families will be able to to help out. They are crazy, as are most families. I'm not sure we can really count on them at this point.

i'm right there with you on the daycare stress! though i live in a cheap cost of living area, everything is relative, because we make a proportionately smaller salary, etc etc. blech. i'm just counting on it all working out. somehow. :P

I spent a lot of time stressing about money throughout my pregnancy. It's hard not to. We are starting ours in day care in Feb. And our here on the east coast, it's going to cost me $2500 a month for both. I'm still stressing about it, but we gotta find a way to make it work, because (here) in-home nannies are even more! Good luck!

I agree with what pam said - if you lived in the midwest your salaries would be proportionately less. I had a friend who got a job in NYC straight out of college paying like $75K/year - which is unheard of here. But the RENT for his ONE BEDROOM appartment that was an hour train ride outside the city was like $3-$4K a month. Also, just for comparison's sake, my little sis, last year when her kids were 4 and 2, the cost to have both kids in KinderCare was $1400 per month - and it would have been more if they had been babies. Daycare is outrageously expensive. I really hope to find a way to swing being a SAHM (at least part time) when/if we ever have kids but with my DH's health issues I just don't know if it will be possible either.

Good luck to you in figuring this all out!

I can totally empathize. We are not even close to where you are, and already were marveling over how daycare would end up costing as much as a nanny (and we'd prefer a nanny because of our work hours). We are also in a 2 br condo (in the only expensive part of the midwest, lucky us).

I'm sure everything will work out!
