We've been to the pediatrician so much in the last 2 weeks! Mostly for weight checks. Today, Maya weighed 4 lbs. 12 oz. and Sofia weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz.! He said they were both doing well, but he does want to see Maya back next week for another weight check. Seems like she probably didn't gain quite as much as he would have liked. But he did say she is doing very well!
I really like my pediatrician too! He does not go directly to meds, and has ideas for different issues. For example, I asked about Maya spitting up all the time and if her formula needs to be changed, and he said in his experience, no, changing the formula won't do anything. I described what she has been doing, and he thinks it's pretty normal. He said just to be sure she is upright for about 20 min. after she eats, and burp her plenty. I also asked him about my thrush and he said drying my nips with a hair dryer three times a day would work! He mentioned the medicine, but said the hair dryer works well to kill the yeast. So, that is what I will do. Sounds much better to me than applying meds.

Not sure what I typed before, but it is likely I got the names/weights confused! Sofia is the larger girl though! :)

I've been getting confused w/ some of your comments re. weight and twins. If you look at your announcement on 3/19 and what you just wrote, is there a typo? Seems like there was a confusion in a recent post too. Wasn't Sofia the smaller baby? You are probably so exhausted.
If you want me to find out what my friend used for her thursh let me know - she swore by it. She is a doula and Lactation consultant!

Glad to hear the girls continue to do so well! I'm glad you found a pediatrician that you like. Since my babies were preemies it was important for me to have a pediatrician. The first one moved away. The second one seemed more interested in talking about her niece the entire visit instead of my twins!! I love the one we have now. He won't prescribed antibiotics unless it is a proven bacterial infection!
I like the fact that your new pediatrician gave you advice on how to deal with your thrush. Oh and my A.va was born weighing 4 pounds, 10 ounces (born at 33 1/2 weeks). She stayed in the NICU for 2 weeks. She only weighed 4 pounds, 12 ounces when she was released (that means she only gained 2 ounces in 2 weeks). I think it's pretty normal for them to have a slower gain in the beginning. No one was ever concerned about it.
